Considerations for the Boys Indoor Junior Volleyball Season

Since 2005, boys volleyball has nearly doubled in participation, and increased by 40% since 2017. This growth of boys’ volleyball does not come without its complications; complications that did not exist 20 years ago. One solution to these four complications is to adjust the boys’ club volleyball season to the summer and fall, ending with a winter National Championship.


The Junior Volleyball Association, a premier club volleyball association with nearly 1,700 member clubs dedicated to promoting the growth of youth and junior volleyball, is pleased to announce a new Executive Director, Lisa Wielebnicki, to lead the next chapter of our association.


In 2020, amid a global pandemic, Chan Esperas and Jamie Cleary launched Kōkua Volleyball Club, offering socially distanced beach volleyball training. With incredible mentors guiding them, they felt compelled to give back to the kids and the community. Kōkua means "to help," a value deeply rooted in Club Director, Chan Esperas’ upbringing. What started as a small initiative quickly grew into a unifying force, bringing together athletes and coaches from various clubs to strengthen Spokane’s volleyball community.
